The Department of the Air Force, United States Space Force, Space Systems Command, Military Communication & Positioning, Navigation & Timing, Los Angeles AFB, El Segundo, CA has awarded a contract to The Boeing Company for Evolved Strategic Satellite Communications (ESS) Space Development and Production of Space Vehicles 1-4 and associated efforts. The action was a full and open competition. The solicitation and resulting award was not fixed price due to the ESS space program and the associated systems being early in their development and having a significant amount of technology maturation and non-recurring enginerring (NRE) to complete.
