SPECIAL NOTICE This is a notice of intent to sole source a procurement under FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures and FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) soliciting from a single source . This requirement is for a ZEISS Equipment Maintenance + Service requirement with a Base + Three (3) Option Years. The anticipated NAICS Code is: 811210 Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance. Pursuant to FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) soliciting from a single source , the 28th Contracting Squadron, Ellsworth AFB, SD, intends to award a sole source contract to Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC, 1 N Broadway Ste 1501, White Plains, NY, 10601. This special notice of intent is NOT a request for competitive quotes. Non-Zeiss SEM manufacturers are unable to maintain Carl Zeiss operating software and equipment due to the proprietary nature of the software and hardware. Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC (Cage: 325W6) (Large Business) is the only entity in the United States authorized to provide proprietary software and hardware support for the Scattering Electron Microscopy (SEM) equipment. Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC possesses sole jurisdiction over technical service representatives who receive comprehensive, on-going factory training for SEM equipment. At this time, there is no avenue for competition. If proprietary rights are released in the future for multiple vendors to distribute, then the requirement may be procured by means of competition.
