Summary

AI-generated · Mar 31, 2026

Provide on-site OEM technical services to diagnose and restore full Load Moment Indicator (LMI) capability for the knuckle-boom cranes on USCGC Polar Star. The LMI modules intermittently operate with no error codes, and replacement modules revealed grounding and Can Bus data-transfer issues (E61) requiring manufacturer-level troubleshooting and calibration on location. Work must be conducted by an OEM technician in the presence of designated USCG personnel, with shipyard safety protocols and USCG supervision of equipment.

Coordinate the field visit, receive government-furnished LMI components (two Console Mentor QVGA units, Can Bus cables, inductive sensors) and provide a Material Receiving Report within 24 hours of receipt. Tasks include troubleshooting, diagnosing, adjusting, and calibrating the LMI consoles per manufacturer instructions, and performing initial and final operational tests to confirm proper operation. The base effort includes travel and up to three field days; any additional travel, materials, or service days require a contract modification with a firm fixed price. Deliverables include a trip report, invoice, and, if additional parts are needed, a detailed Bill of Materials. Security access procedures apply at USCG Base Seattle, with potential escort, and references require Joint Certification Program (JCP) registration.
