Summary

AI-generated · Dec 04, 2025

Renew firemain piping located in compartment 1-12-1-L, Passage, per Coast Guard Drawing 225 WLB 521 001, REV F. Crop the necessary length (6 in. diameter) to include the FPL supply (3 in.) and pressure gauge/sensor supply (1/4 in.), fabricate the piping arrangement, install with required gaskets/seals, and provide a means to seal any open piping while sections are open (upstream valve blind flange). Install all fabrications, new pipe hangers, and label the piping with the service name, destination where feasible, and a 3-inch flow arrow. After all mechanical joint work, perform a leak test at normal operating pressure with the system fluid and repair any leaks to zero visible leakage; complete touch-up coating to match adjacent surfaces per SFLC 6310; install insulation over exposed pipe surfaces and related hangers, valves, fittings, and flanges per ASTM F683.

Compliance and site requirements include protective measures, interference handling, and contamination prevention per SFLC Std Spec 0000; fluid handling with removal and proper disposal of fluids per applicable regulations (no draining into spaces, bilges, or exterior areas). Provide a Marine Chemist for initial hot-work certification and a competent person for recertification, with all documentation; notify the USCGC Alder point of planned hot work the day prior to work. The USCGC Alder will provide fire watches during working hours (07:00–15:00), with the contractor responsible for fire watches after hours. Security requirements mandate state-issued IDs for personnel, vehicle license plate information, and vehicle details (year, make, model). All work must comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Statement of Work USCGC ALDER (WLB 216) Fire Main Piping Crop & Renew 1. Purpose and Scope KTR shall renew firemain piping located in compartment 1-12-1-L, Passage. 2. Pipe hangers: Furnish, fit, and install new pipe hangers, as necessary. Pipe labeling: The KTR must label affected piping as follows: o Name of the piping system service. o Destination, where feasible. o Direction of flow, indicated by an arrow three inches long pointing away from the lettering. Leak Test: After completing all authorized mechanical (i.e. threaded, bolted, etc.) joint repairs, the Contractor must test the affected piping system's operation using the system fluid at normal operating pressure. Ensure zero visible leakage from or deformation of mechanical parts by repairing all leaks and discrepancies. Touch-up preservation: The KTR must prepare and coat all new and disturbed surfaces to match existing adjacent surfaces in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 6310, (Touch-ups and minor coating repairs.) Piping insulation installation: The KTR must install new insulation materials over the exposed pipe surfaces at thicknesses appropriate to the application and temperature ranges specified in ASTM F683 Tables. o Associated pipe hangers o Valves o Fittings o Flanges 3. Period of Performance ALDER is available during the following dates: o 17 December 2025 10 January 2026 o 08 February 07 March 2026. 4.
