Summary
AI-generated · Aug 24, 2025A sputter coater system is requested to support SEM-based tissue analysis at USAMRICD. The instrument must perform precision ion-beam coating of organic or inorganic materials prior to SEM imaging, using coatings such as carbon, gold/palladium, chromium, or platinum. This equipment will fully support USAMRICD’s medical chemical countermeasures research by enabling tissue visualization and assessment of candidate therapeutics within animal research protocols studying pathology from exposure to chemical/biological agents.
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items under FAR 12.6; quotes are requested and this notice is the sole solicitation. Inquiries and quotes must follow the designated process by the stated deadlines; telephone inquiries are not accepted. Refer to the attachments for further details.
The USAMRICD is the nation's leading science and technology laboratory in medical chemical countermeasures research and development. USAMRICD manages a diversified portfolio of medical chemical warfare agent research projects for the Department of Defense (DoD) and other Federal Agencies. USAMRICD s strategic plan relies on the outstanding performance of scientists and support personnel and the ability to exceed expectations on customer directed research projects. CPD, RSD, USAMRICD, is an integral part of the research vision, providing support to researchers and their respective animal research protocols to study pathology associated with exposure to chemical, biological or kinetic warfare agents and a means to assess the efficacy of candidate therapeutics. One method of viewing tissue is scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Precision ion beam coating of organic or inorganic materials using coating materials such as carbon, gold/palladium, chromium, or platinum is required prior to imaging using a SEM analysis. A new Sputter Coater will fully support the USAMRICD mission. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared In Accordance With (IAW) the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) subpart 12.6, Streamlined Procedures for Evaluation and Solicitation for Commercial Items, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice.
