Summary

AI-generated · Nov 21, 2025

A U.S. Space Force RFI seeks information from Danish-based manufacturers on available makes, models, designs, and specifications for a new ocean-going Special Service Vessel to support Pituffik Space Base, Greenland. The vessel will enable safe harbor operations along 33 miles of Arctic coastline and functions including crew transport to and from vessels, mooring operations, security surveillance, and emergency environmental spill response. It is intended as a replacement for the base’s current vessel to maintain and extend Arctic operational capability, and the contractor must supply a vessel that is new and unused. Respondents must be within the Kingdom of Denmark due to an international agreement.

Provide make/model recommendations with literature, specifications, production lead times, standard warranties, and rough-order-of-magnitude pricing. Desired capabilities include propulsion that runs on JP-8 fuel and reliable operation at 76 degrees north latitude; minimum payload ≥5,500 pounds; forward cockpit with self-draining decks; overhead spotter windows; seating for at least four with shock-mitigated seats and seatbelts; LED floodlights (≥600 lumens); 110 VAC 60 Hz shore power kit/30-amp inlet; emergency lighting, communications and navigation equipment compliant with USCG rules and 33 CFR requirements; lifting/attachment points; rubberized/non-skid surface treatments; and a trailer to move the vessel between storage and launch site. The government is seeking modifications or enhancements to meet Arctic conditions and will use responses to refine salient characteristics for a future solicitation, contingent on funding. This is an information-gathering activity, not a paying procurement, and costs to participate are at respondents’ expense.

Firms are welcome to suggest modifications, accessories, and/or enhancements, to meet the operational intent and environmental considerations of the Arctic. The U.S. government s intent is to understand market capabilities to produce and deliver a desired vessel, refine salient characteristics for solicitation and secure necessary funding for a potential acquisition in Fiscal Year 2026 or 2027. Note that funding is not yet available for this requirement and any future solicitation will be conditioned upon the availability of funds. This notice is a RFI only. This RFI is issued by the USSF for information and planning purposes, pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 10, Market Research.
