Summary

AI-generated · Dec 13, 2025

Provide a Compact Dual Polarimetric X-Band Doppler Weather Radar System for the US Naval Academy’s Department of Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences that operates in X-Band (9.4 GHz) with selectable scan modes and a range greater than 60 km. It must be a dual-polarimetric STAR radar (simultaneous transmission/reception) delivering CF/Radial and NEXRAD Level-II data formats and reporting polarimetric variables ZDR, KDP, and CC, with a Nyquist velocity of at least 60 m/s. The system shall be compact (weight under 68 kg; footprint under 1.2 m x 1.2 m; height under 1.2 m) and include a signal processing unit, a data processing unit, and software for basic display; powered by 120–240 VAC at 50/60 Hz; include all cabling and a non-penetrating roof mount at least 2 m tall; provide on-site installation, training, and an extended warranty; compatible with Windows 11 and/or Linux; and operable/maintainable using the USNA’s existing supplies, software, and systems.

This is a planning sources-sought for a potential single, firm-fixed-price award to acquire the system; responses should include capability statements or cost estimates and basic company information, reference the sources sought number, and indicate whether items can be obtained from an existing Government contract vehicle. The Government will not provide questions or responses to inquiries in this notice, as information is for planning purposes only and may be updated prior to any formal solicitation.

Sources Sought Notice for Compact Dual Polarimetric X-Band Doppler Weather Radar System The Fleet Logistics Center Norfolk, Virginia is seeking information on qualified and experienced sources for planning purposes in an effort to derive a contract vehicle that will provide a Compact Dual Polarimetric X-Band Doppler Weather Radar System with the specifications detailed below for the United States Naval Academy Department of Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences. A single award, Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contract action under NAICS code 334511 with a size standard of 1,350 is anticipated. This proposed contract vehicle shall provide 1 Compact Dual Polarimetric X-Band Doppler Weather Radar System meeting all of the specifications detailed below.
