Summary

AI-generated · Aug 24, 2025

Manufacturers and repair service providers are being sought to manufacture and repair the AN/ASN-157 Doppler Navigation Set (DNS) used on AH-64D/E Longbow Apache aircraft. The DNS delivers highly accurate 3-D velocity and navigation data, integrating with the GPS/INS to provide independent, jam-resistant navigation in all conditions, including when GPS is unavailable. It is critical for safe flight, fire-control and weapons delivery, and hovering; lack of a functioning DNS poses safety risks and could impede mission completion. The government does not possess the technical data package (TDP) for these parts, and the TDP is not available for release.

This is a sources-sought notice for market research to determine if capable, responsible sources exist to manufacture or repair the DNS (or provide equivalent capability). Respondents should provide documentation demonstrating capability to manufacture or repair the DNS, including a completed questionnaire, relevant prior government and commercial contracts, and information on data rights. Submissions must include the company name, CAGE code, and a technical point of contact with email and telephone. Responses should be emailed to the stated technical and contracting points of contact; no phone inquiries. This notice does not constitute a commitment, and no costs will be reimbursed.

The DNS is a critical sensor used to provide highly accurate, three-dimensional velocity and navigation data on the AH-64D/E Longbow Apache helicopters. The DNS is integrated into the Apache Global Positioning System (GPS) and Inertial Navigation System (INS) to provide independent, jam-resistant navigation and enables these systems to operate effectively and dependably, day or night, and during adverse weather conditions and when GPS is not available. It provides accurate 3-D velocity data for fire-control, INS aiding, weapons delivery, and hovering operations. The use of helicopters without a fully functional DNS would present safety risks to the pilot, the supported Warfighter, and would prevent completion of missions. Repair support is a critical and essential element for supporting the helicopter fleet and to ensure these items are maintained in an operational condition. The acquisition of hardware spares is also crucial in the sustainment of fleet operation. The Government does not possess the technical data package (TDP) for the parts. The TDP is not available for release. FOR PROCUREMENT OF PARTS: Procurement History: W56JSR-22-D-0010, BAE Systems, POP Sep 2022 Sep 2027.
