Mitigation includes installing bank armoring with riprap, backfilling behind the riprap with 3-inch-minus subgrade aggregate to about 2–4 feet behind the riprap, and placing D-1 aggregate on the trail surface to harden it for ATV use. The trail is typically 6–8 feet wide and will require clearing and minor excavation as needed.

Construction must occur during low-water periods with dewatering accomplished by diverting small channels within the project area. A dozer or excavator may operate in the stream channel or along the bank to perform diversions. Work is restricted to periods with five consecutive days below 30°F.
