Summary

AI-generated · Nov 21, 2025

The VA VISN 10 is gathering information to determine if qualified small businesses can provide semi-annual and annual professional cleaning of kitchen hood ventilation systems at the Fort Wayne and Marion VA Medical Centers (including the VCS Canteen and Dietetics kitchens). The work covers all components from the hood to the exhaust stack—hoods, filters, grease removal devices, ducts, fans, blowers, and related assemblies—cleaned to bare metal with no visible grease, using NFPA 96 and IKECA standards. The contractor must supply all labor, materials, and equipment, coordinate with VA staff, and provide post-cleaning reports to confirm the system operates as intended afterward.

Key requirements include NFPA 96 and IKECA compliance, OSHA General Industry and Construction standards, Hazardous Communications and Lock-Out/Tag-Out practices, protective measures for work areas, and proper cleanup and disposal of waste off-site. Access panels and fire suppression components must remain intact and functional, and the work area must be left neat with all panels restored and the system verified after cleaning. A lift is required to perform the work, and coordination with the COR and Maintenance Supervisors is mandatory. This is a market survey/RFI to assess capability and potential set-aside options; a solicitation will be posted later on SAM.gov if pursued.
