Summary

AI-generated · Jan 15, 2026

External rucksack frames/suspension systems must be commercially available and compatible with the MOLLE 4000 Rucksack (frames, not the rucksacks themselves) and capable of supporting a 120 lb load for a Soldier. Required testing includes: three 8-foot free-fall drops with impact on the frame, three additional drops with impact on the rucksack, and an airdrop slide test at 31–34 feet per second (45 degrees from vertical) for both the frame and the rucksack, with no visual damage. The frame/system will also undergo human-factors testing under typical combat loads.

This is a sources-sought notice to gather product literature from domestically produced external frames compatible with the MOLLE 4000. Respondents should provide company name, product description, photos or illustrations, pricing, production capacity, and details on quality management systems, along with business size and related information. Information will be used to inform small procurements for testing; this is not a solicitation and no contract will be awarded from this notice. If a solicitation is issued later, it will be announced on the appropriate government site, and submitted information becomes Government property.
