*URGENT* PTAG Intent to Sole Source Evacu-Trac Medical Evacuation Chairs PTAG Part 6.1.1 Synopsis Intent to Sole Source For this procurement, the USPTO is exempt from the Competition in Contracting Act (CICA) as the subject requirement is being procured using the Alternative Competition Method in accordance with the Patent and Trademark Office Acquisition Guidelines (PTAG) and the Patent and Trademark Office Efficiency Act 35 U.S.C. 2(b)(4)(A). The full text is located here: https://federalregister.gov/a/2013-24316 The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Office of Administrative Services (OAS), has an URGENT requirement to purchase forty (40) Garventa Lift Evacu-Trac evacuation chairs and forty (40) storage cabinets, in part, as a result of a recent fire within the Alexandria Campus at 600 Dulany Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. These emergency evacuation chairs and cabinets will be deployed immediately upon delivery on the tenant floors (Floors 2-10). The Garventa Lift evacuation chairs, are emergency use medical devices (NAICS 339113) that allow disabled persons to descend the stairs safely during emergency building evacuations. The purchase of these evacuation chairs and cabinets (to house the chairs) will allow a single person to evacuate an individual with a disability from a campus building. Other potential evacuation chair vendors were contacted, and it was determined that only the Evacu-Trac chairs with a 400-lb capacity that could be delivered in a timely cost-effective manner at this time (within 2-weeks), while also integrating seamlessly with the existing emergency response equipment/protocols, as well as fit-in with the internal physical layout of the campus buildings.
