Summary

AI-generated · May 05, 2026

Replace the entire paved area at the Memphis Cotton Classing Facility due to severe disrepair from 1995 paving and ongoing drainage issues that damage the subbase. The work includes removing and replacing the surface to restore proper drainage and pavement integrity. The solicitation documents note an amendment that adds pavement striping requirements, with acrylic paint, and the stripes must match the existing markings. There are also questions about a sinkhole: dimensions and how to fill it, with the proposed approach to clear the hole, remove debris, fill with appropriate material (e.g., 3/4" gravel), and place asphalt with access to the back lot. The project is to be executed in three phases, and depending on scheduling, may require three mobilizations.

The entire paved area at the Memphis Cotton Classing Facility is in a severe state of disrepair and must be replaced. The surfaces were first paved in 1995. There is poor drainage and water intrusion to the subbase, leading to severe degradation. Solicitation documents are posted below. Amendment 1 is posted below. Regarding amendment 1 incorporating pavement striping, acrylic paint is required, and the striping should match existing. RFIs: Can you provide the dimensions of the sink hole that was covered and how you would like to fill it? See photos below for dimensions. Clear the hole, dig out the debris, fill with appropriate material (ie, 3/4 gravel), asphalt with back lot. With this being in 3 phases, will the project require 3 mobilizations? Depending on the necessary schedule, yes it may.

The intent is to preserve where it can be preserved and replace where necessary to provide a parking area that does not retain water, drains properly, and is appropriately sloped. While at the same time having a finished parking lot that will not deteriorate prematurely due to subgrade preservation. Preserve it to the extent it makes sense to do so. There is no specific requirement to replace it all. Additionally, fog seal is not required. Amendment 2 is posted below. The closing date for quotes is extended to May 29.
