Summary

AI-generated · Jun 11, 2026

Provide a one-year Protect Premium maintenance and service agreement for two Carl Zeiss microscopy instruments located at NIH/NIAID Rocky Mountain Laboratory: Zeiss LSM 880 confocal microscope and Zeiss Axio Scan.Z1 slide-scanning microscope (two specific serial numbers). The contract is firm-fixed-price and non-competitive, with Zeiss as the sole source because they own the proprietary knowledge, schematics, parts, and factory-trained engineers required to service these instruments. The service package includes one annual preventive maintenance visit with all labor and travel, unlimited on-site repairs and replacement parts, prioritized on-site response for critical repairs, unlimited access to ZEISS’s Digital Customer Engagement Center during standard hours, firmware and software updates, and work performed by factory-trained engineers using genuine Zeiss parts to OEM specifications.

The maintenance supports ongoing research at the DIR by ensuring these highly utilized microscopes remain operational, preventing downtime that would impede immunology and infectious-disease research. This is a sole-source action, not open for full competition. Interested parties may submit capability statements outlining their ability to provide the required service, including capabilities, past performance, technical approach, and pricing information.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Office of the Director, Office of Acquisitions, intends to negotiate and award a firm-fixed-price purchase order on a non-competitive basis to Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC, One Corporation Way, Peabody, MA 01960, for a one-year maintenance and service agreement for the National Institute of Allergy and infectious Disease (NIAID) instruments (serial numbers 2802100114 and 4631001043).
