The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Caribbean Healthcare System, Network Contracting Office 8 intends to negotiate a sole-source contract under the authority of FAR part 13.106-1(b). The Contractor Milestone Medical Technologies, Inc. shall provide maintenance services of the UltraSafe Formalin Dispensing System located in the Veterans Affairs Caribbean Healthcare System (VACHS). A service contract for a base one-year period with four one-year option periods is anticipated and shall be awarded. The equipment is specialized, and improper maintenance or calibration could cause misdiagnosis or harm to patients. Moreover, Milestone Medical Technologies, Inc. (OEM), owns the right to replacement/upgrades licenses, qualified personnel, access to manufacturing maintenance publications, and proprietary diagnostic software that is not available to 3rd party vendors.
