Summary

AI-generated · Aug 25, 2025

Maintenance services for NOAA Weather Radio Transmitter Systems across 28 sites in Colorado include on-site preventive maintenance, routine remote monitoring, outage and restoration work, and miscellaneous tasks to ensure rapid response to malfunctions. This effort is being continued through a sole-source modification to extend the existing contract with the Colorado Department of Public Safety for two more months to support the NWS/NWR All-Hazard Radio network.

The modification (P25007) exercises the option under FAR 52.217-8, continuing a firm-fixed-price arrangement through a sole-source procurement. The awarded modification amount is $54,052.50 and the contract remains with CDPS; this is not a competitive action, though capable sources may submit statements for consideration.

Title: NOAA National Weather Radio Maintenance- Colorado Sites This notice is being published in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 5.101 requiring dissemination of information for proposed contract actions. This is a notice of intent to award a sole source modification to exercise an option, and is not a request for competitive quotes/proposals. The statutory authority for this sole source procurement is prescribed by FAR 13.501(a). The US Department of Commerce (DOC), National Atmospheric and Oceanic Administration (NOAA), Western Acquisition Division (WAD), intends to award a Sole Source, Firm-Fixed-Price type modification for two (2) months by exercising FAR 52.217-8, Option to Extend Services (NOV 1999) to the Colorado Department of Public Safety (CDPS) using the procedures in FAR Part 13 for maintenance services critical to the operational needs of the National Weather Service s (NWS) National Weather Radio (NWR) All-Hazard Radio. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 811210 with a business size standard of $34 million. NOAA s Weather Radio NWR All- Hazards network is one of the primary means that the NWS disseminates its weather forecasts and severe weather warnings. In Colorado, NWR broadcast towers are housed at strategic geographic locations to allow the NWS to maximize its network of NWR broadcast coverage throughout a large portion of the state of Colorado. The Broadcast towers are mostly located in remote areas and provide an advantage for both above mean sea level and telecommunication line of sight perspectives. CDPS provides NWS s Central Region with routine (preventative) and non-routine (corrective) maintenance services of NOAA Weather Radio Transmitter Systems for twenty-eight (28) sites within the state of Colorado. These services include on-site routine maintenance, routine remote monitoring, site outage and restoration, as well as miscellaneous services as required, to ensure outages and repairs due to malfunctions are acted upon expeditiously. The intent of this synopsis is for informational purposes only and is NOT a request for competitive proposals. However, responsible parties may submit a capability statement demonstrating the ability to provide the requested services, which shall be considered by the agency before the intended award date. Interested sources who submit information are responsible for appropriately marking information if it is proprietary in nature. The Government shall not reimburse interested sources for any information provided. No requests for capability briefings will be honored. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed option modification based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This synopsis is published for informational purposes only. The Government does not intend to pay for any information received in response to this announcement. Interested vendors shall respond to this notice with their capability statement no later than Monday, July 14, 2025 @ 2:00pm PDT. Potential contractors responding to this notice must have a current and active registration in the System for Award Management (SAM). All responses to this notice shall be sent to the attention of Nicole Collins, (nicole.collins@noaa.gov) and Richard Barzaghi (richard.barzaghi@noaa.gov).
