Health Physics inspections are needed for all radiation-producing devices at Moncrief Army Health Clinic, including Nuclear Medicine Scanners and the MRI, on an annual basis to ensure safe and effective use of radiation and to protect patients and personnel from unnecessary exposure. An external contractor is required because internal regional and assigned health physics officers are not certified to perform surveys on all of the equipment.

Inspections must be conducted in accordance with standards from ACR, FDA, and the Joint Commission. The contractor should be able to survey and certify all listed equipment as part of the annual program.
