Summary

AI-generated · Jun 30, 2026

Commercial service to mill the inner surface of F-16 lower wing skins to achieve uniform thickness. After overhaul at Hill AFB, wings are removed and sent to a contracted facility; if a skin is replaced, the existing skin is used as a template to drill the hole patterns into the new skin. The skin is contoured and must be milled while fixed flat, with the milling setup maintaining flatness; shipping between Hill AFB and the contractor is included.

Procurement is commercial, using commercial terms and conditions; no long-lead items or environmental/certification prerequisites are identified. The service is sold in the commercial marketplace (not military-specific), and a one-year standard warranty applies.

530 CMMXS Commodities Maintenance Squadron has a new service requirement to acquire F-16 Wing Skin Milling. The F-16 Fighting Falcon undergoes a major overhaul process after a specific number of flight hours. As part of the overhaul process performed at Hill AFB, the wings are removed from the aircraft and sent to the wing maintenance facility. If a skin warrants replacement, it is removed from the wing box and used as a template to match drill the existing hole patterns in a new skin. The scope of this service entails the modification of F-16 lower wing skins by milling the inner surface in order to create a uniform thickness throughout each skin. The skin is contoured and therefore must be fixed flat during the milling process. Shipping between Hill AFB and the contracting facility is to be included in the service. This service is not military specific and is sold in the commercial marketplace. There are no known long lead schedule items that could impact delivery requirements. There are no known environmental regulations or product certification requirements that must be obtained in order to procure, store, or use this requirement. The services required are commercial. Commercial terms and conditions will be utilized in this acquisition. The Government is not the only buyer, nor do they make the majority of the purchases. Therefore, the Government does not have any leverage in the commercial marketplace. One year standard warranty shall apply.
