The intent of this project is to increase the pace and scale of forest restoration treatments by contracting project layout and preparation activities. The objectives of this project are to increase forest health and vigor, reduce hazardous fuels to reduce the threat of catastrophic wildfire within the Wildland Urban Interface by accomplishing the following: Improve forest health by increasing residual tree growth, vigor, and crown development. Reduce fuel loading and re-introduce low-intensity fire by implementing mechanical fuel treatments and preparatory work to manage the effects of the re-introduction of fire as a disturbance mechanism. Removing activity slash from FS lands when feasible. Thin from below in ponderosa pine stands and restoring savanna and grassland vegetation types. Remove included sawtimber and non-sawtimber from the Contract Area. Mechanically remove small diameter trees to landings to be burned by FS or chipped/removed from contract area. Provide wood products to local industry by utilizing timber and other forest products.
