PROJECT DETAILS: This project will rehabilitate and reconstruct approximately 6.9 miles of a paved (asphalt) access road to the Paso Robles Long Range Radar site beginning at the FS boundary at milepost 0.3 and ending at the gate of the FAA radar site at approximately milepost 7.22. The project will also include drainage improvements and provide safety improvements where feasible. The project will consist of a 4-inch full depth reclamation (FDR) of the roadway pavement and 2-inch asphalt overlay. Cleaning or replacement of damaged or missing drainage flumes, cleaning of drainage flumes and culverts, adding embankment material to eroded areas, and installation of delineators and object markers. Roadway cross slopes vary but will be replaced to closely match existing conditions with minor adjustments made to direct runoff to new drainage flume locations. Traffic control will be required to maintain access to radar and communication sites during construction.
