Summary

AI-generated · Aug 24, 2025

Require two standalone machines: an automatic hole-punch unit and a separate coil inserter (coil binding machine). These will replace decade-old manual equipment and are intended to fit within budget, providing a streamlined, stand-alone solution rather than a combined unit.

Aim to coil and bind up to 450 booklets per hour (versus the current rate of about 450 every 8 hours), delivering faster throughput and improved quality. This improvement is needed to handle large booklet binding jobs without tying up other print shop functions or the mailroom operations, and to reduce overtime or last-minute staffing. See the attached Purchase Description and Combined Synopsis-Solicitation for additional details.

The Florida National Guards print shop is looking to refine and improve efficiently on its current booklet binding operations due to the increase in request over the last few years. The two main components of the binding equipment required in this request consists of a hole punch machine and a coil inserter. The most efficient way forward while staying within our budget is a stand-alone automatic hole punch machine and a stand-alone coiling machine which in turn will reduce the amount of time it takes to hole punch/coil individual booklets. The current methods of book binding are done with manual equipment that has been in place for about ten years. At times print shop employees are given such short suspense extra man hours after work are required to finish jobs especially when it is requested by the CMD floor which we cannot hold off or reject. Finding a solution that could coil and bind up to 450 booklets in 1 hour compared to the current rate at about 450 booklets every 8 hours with better quality would drastically improve the overall operations of the printshop. When they have a large booklet binding job, they are not able to handle all the other functions in the print shop which are combined with the mailroom operations. See attached Purchase Description and Combined Synopsis-Solicitation for additional details.
