CHEMICAL ANALYSES OF WATER SAMPLES ANALYSES SOURCES SOUGHT The US Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting market research to determine the availability of qualified businesses capable of providing chemical analyses (ammonium, nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, total dissolved nitrogen, total dissolved phosphorus, total particulate nitrogen, total particulate carbon, TP, TSS, chlorophyll, and phaeophytin concentrations) of water samples as described in the attached specifications. This sources sought announcement is not a request for quote or proposal and the Government is not committed to award of a purchase order or contract pursuant to this announcement. The information resulting from this market research is simply for planning purposes to assist the Government in determining its acquisition strategy. The Government will not pay for any costs incurred in the preparation of information for responding to this notice. WATER SAMPLES CHEMICAL ANALYSES Notice of Intent This is a notice of intent to solicit from a single source. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), intends to award a purchase order to University of Maryland, Chesapeake Biological Lab for chemical analyses (ammonium, nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, total dissolved nitrogen, total dissolved phosphorus, total particulate nitrogen, total particulate carbon, TP, TSS, chlorophyll, and phaeophytin concentrations) of water samples. Award will be made in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) and the procedures at FAR Part 12 entitled, Acquisition of Commercial Items and FAR Part 13 entitled, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Midwest Lake Management is, to the USGS’ knowledge, the only source who can provide the equipment with the required technical specifications. The USGS currently owns a Midwest system. Therefore, data comparability and consistency are critical for these analyses. The purpose of this notice is to satisfy the requirements of FAR Subpart 5.101(a)(2) and FAR 5.2. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all responsible parties may submit a quotation by the closing date of this announcement which shall be considered by the agency. No solicitation will be issued. A determination not to compete this action based upon responses received is in the sole discretion of the Government. The NAICS code for this action is 541380, Testing Laboratory.
