Scope of Work: Modernization of Laser Bay Transporters (LBTs) Project Overview: The National Ignition Facility (NIF) at LLNS is seeking qualified companies to perform a comprehensive modernization of three (3) Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), known as Laser Bay Transporters (LBTs). These vehicles are critical for the autonomous transport and precise positioning of optics packages (Line Replaceable Units, or LRUs) within the NIF laser bays. The LBTs have provided reliable service for over 20 years, and this project aims to renew their systems to ensure continued safe, dependable, and compliant operation for at least another two decades. Objective Modernize the LBTs electronic, control, and safety systems to current industry standards while maintaining all existing operational capabilities and interfaces. The modernization should focus on enhancing reliability, maintainability, and compliance with current safety and IT requirements, ensuring long-term supportability and performance. Scope of Work The selected contractor will be responsible for: Assessment and Planning: Evaluate the current condition of the LBTs and develop a comprehensive modernization plan that addresses obsolescence, reliability, and compliance with applicable standards.
