Summary

AI-generated · Apr 03, 2026

Portable Aerosol Vapor Chemical Agent Detector (AVCAD) capable of detecting and identifying vapor and aerosol chemical hazards in tactical environments; operable in both dismounted and mounted configurations, with remote operation and alarm notification via an application that can run on a tablet. Intended for use by Army, Navy, Marine Corps, National Guard and Coast Guard to support missions such as monitoring, collective protection, base defense, decontamination, unmasking, dismounted reconnaissance, mounted reconnaissance (including NBCRV platforms), and shipboard operations. Market research is seeking current capabilities and manufacturing readiness information to assess potential for full-rate production and worldwide deployment.

The JPM CBRN IEW has requirements and performance specifications that may result in full rate production and deployment of AVCADs in tactical environments worldwide. The Government requires a portable system capable of detecting and identifying vapor and aerosol chemical hazards to meet AVCAD requirements. The AVCAD will operate in both dismounted and mounted configurations. The ability to remotely operate and alarm via an application that can be hosted on a tablet computer is also required. The U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, National Guard and Coast Guard will use AVCADs to conduct and/or support their missions. These missions include monitoring, collective protection, base defense, decontamination, unmasking, dismounted reconnaissance, mounted reconnaissance (such as the Stryker Nuclear Biological Chemical Reconnaissance Vehicle (NBCRV)) and shipboard. This office is updating market research from both Government and industry to ensure technical readiness and manufacturing readiness information of available capabilities is current and accurate.
