Summary

AI-generated · Feb 27, 2026

Renewal of a single annual software license for whole-genome sequencing from Sentieon, Inc., to support the Integrative Tumor Epidemiology Branch’s analyses of very large tumor cohorts. The software promises a 20- to 50-fold increase in variant-calling processing speed on the same hardware while maintaining accuracy identical to the current GATK pipeline, addressing bottlenecks in sequencing workflows and accelerating cancer genomics research with direct clinical relevance.

Because the software is proprietary and only available through Sentieon, this is a sole-source procurement. The government will consider capability statements or proposals from other parties, but responses will be used solely to determine whether to pursue a competitive procurement. Submissions must be in writing and include sufficient detail to assess capability; SAM registration is required to be eligible for award. Refer to the attached Statement of Work for additional details.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Integrative Tumor Epidemiology Branch (ITEB), Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG) Microscopy Core requires the renewal of (1) one software license for whole-genome sequencing. The Office of Acquisitions (OA), Office of Mission Acquisition Solutions (OMASO plans to procure, on a sole source basis, (1) software license from: Sentieon, Inc. 160 E. Tasman Drive San Jose, CA 95134 SAM UEI: GSJUN6H5PFN1 The response close date of this notice is in accordance with FAR 5.203(a)(1). This acquisition will be processed under FAR Part 12 and will be made pursuant to the authority in FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) and, in accordance with FAR 13, is exempt from requirements in FAR Part 6. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 513210 Software Publishers; and the small business size standard is $47 million. This is a procurement of an annual renewal for one (1) software license and ad-hoc software services. The Integrative Tumor Epidemiology Branch (ITEB), Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG) seeks to renew the annual Sentieon software which offers a 20 50 increase in processing speed with identical accuracy to GATK, enabling timely analysis of very large tumor cohorts. However, highly accurate analysis of sequencing data is computationally intensive and creates a bottleneck in the overall sequencing workflow. To address these challenges, ITEB is looking to procure software that will significantly decrease the analysis time and the computational resource requirements for variant detection without compromising accuracy. By eliminating this bottleneck, ITEB can accelerate cancer genomics research with direct relevance to improving clinical outcomes in cancer care. The software is used to facilitate research analysis with significant clinical importance. Due to the large sample size of tumors ITEB is analyzing, they require software that can provide variant calling at high speed, that is essential for the ongoing planned projects. To address these challenges, ITEB is looking to procure software that will significantly decrease the analysis time and the computational resource requirements for variant detection without compromising accuracy. Sentieon Software is proprietary software only available through Sentieon. The software will result is 20-to-50-fold increase in processing speed on the same hardware with results that are identical to the currently used GATK pipeline. Changing vendors would result in higher cost from the Federal Government. Thus, Sentieon is the only known source that can meet the Government s needs at this time. This notice is not a request for competitive quotation. However, if any interested party, especially small businesses, believes it can meet the above requirement, it may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation, which shall be considered by the agency. The statement of capabilities and any other information furnished must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow the NCI to determine if the party can perform the requirement. Responses must be received no later than 2:00PM EST, March 2, 2026. All responses and questions must be in writing and emailed to Maliaka Pinkney, Contract Specialist, via electronic mail at maliaka.pinkney@hhs.gov. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No collect calls will be accepted. In order to receive an award, Contractors must be registered and have valid, current Entity Record, including current Representations and Certifications, in the System for Award Management (SAM) through SAM.gov. Reference: HHS-26-001246 on all correspondence. ***Please reference the attached Statement of Work for more details pertaining to the nature of the requirement.***
