Summary

AI-generated · Aug 24, 2025

Open-market Zeiss Axio Observer 5 microscope components will be procured to assemble a fully functional research microscope for the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center, with a sole-source award to Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC. The required components include major optic and support parts (dust cover, binoc tube, eyepieces, mechanical stage, illuminator, light source, objective, C-mount adapter) and a complete microscopy workstation with computer, monitor, and software; these items are to be delivered as open-market components because not all parts are available on the GSA contract, and all items must be included to ensure full operability for the intended research. The purchase will be treated as a single, firm-fixed-price action and will be included with the larger FSS order as allowed by FAR 8.402(f).

This is not a competitive procurement; interested parties may submit capability statements to show how they could meet the requirement. Responses should demonstrate the ability to provide the listed open-market components and deliver a complete, functioning system; submissions must be made by the stated deadline to the contracting officer, with no cost or obligation to the Government.
