Summary

AI-generated · Jan 28, 2026

Procurement seeks two BZ-X series add-ons for the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System’s current fluorescence microscope: 1 each of the BZ-X Fluorescent Microscope ANALYZER SOFTWARE and the BZ-X Fluorescent Microscope MULTI-STACK MODULE, to support both in vitro (cells in dishes) and in vivo studies. The software and module must be compatible with the institution’s existing BZ-X microscope and are requested to determine market capability for a potential future solicitation.

The ANALYZER SOFTWARE must provide basic image processing tools (including haze reduction, image overlays, scale bar, cut/paste, zoom, lookup table, and black balance) to enable pre-calibrated, time-saving analysis. The MULTI-STACK MODULE must include a navigation function that allows high-magnification observations while using a wide-area map linked to XY stage coordinates, with the ability to move the observation point by clicking the map and to create wide-area maps using any mountable lens, thereby shortening capture time by reducing frequent lens changes. Delivery is FOB Destination to the VA Ann Arbor Warehouse in Ann Arbor, MI.

Delivery is to: VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System Warehouse 2215 Fuller Road Ann Arbor, MI 48105 The Department of Veterans Affairs, NCO 10, located at 24 Frank Lloyd Wright Dr., Lobby M, Suite M2200, Ann Arbor, MI, 48105 in support of VISN 10 VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System 2215 Fuller Road Ann Arbor, MI 48105 has a requirement to purchase the below BZ-X series All-In-One Florescence Microscope Add-Ons for vivo and in vitro experiments. BZ-X Fluorescent Microscope ANALYZER SOFTWARE 1 each BZ-X Fluorescent Microscope MULTI-STACK MODULE 1 each Fluorescent Microscope Add-On Equipment must be compatible with the currently owned BZ-X Fluorescent Microscope. The Add on equipment will allow in vitro (in glass/lab) studies to test biological processes outside a living organism (e.g., cells in a dish), while in vivo (within the living) studies occur within a whole, living organism (animal or human). Both are crucial in VA research, with in vitro offering controlled, precise initial insights, and in vivo revealing complex systemic interactions and real-world effects, often progressing from lab dishes to animal models, then to human clinical trials for safety and efficacy. The Fluorescent Microscope Add-On Equipment also meets the required specifications for accomplishing the research: Advanced Analysis Software: The analysis software must include some basic image processing software such as Haze reduction (no-neighbor deconvolution), image overlays, scale bar, cut/paste, zoom, lookup table, black balance. This requirement is associated with the ability to do simple image analysis that is pre-calibrated to ensure time savings. Advanced Multi Stack Observation Module: The microscope must be equipped with a navigation function that enables the user the following: to make observations at a high magnification while checking the position over the entire region using a wide-area map image linked with information on the XY stage coordinates and to move the observation position by clicking the desired point on the wide-area map image. It must also be possible to create a wide-area map image using any of the mountable lenses. This requirement is associated with the need to shorten capture time by ensuring that it is possible to perform positioning while using a high-magnification lens without having to frequently switch between high-magnification and low-magnification lenses.
