Summary

AI-generated · Aug 23, 2025

Seeks an integrated sensor package (multi-sensor core logger) to non-destructively image and measure sediment properties in whole-round or split sediment cores, for on-site use at Woods Hole, MA. Must be brand-name or equal to Geotek MSCL-S and include a fully automated track system capable of handling 1.5 m+ core sections, integrated data acquisition/processing electronics and peripherals, and sensors for whole-core and split-core configurations (e.g., Bartington MS2C/M2E, Cs-137 density measurement, P-wave velocity with core thickness sensor, Geoscan linescan imaging, handheld XRF, natural gamma detectors), along with required calibration materials, shielding and access controls for ionizing radiation, and software for on-instrument processing and post-processing. The package should also cover on-site installation and operator training, shipping, and documentation to support licensing, plus US electrical compatibility and necessary documentation.

Record 1 was a non-binding market-scan (Sources Sought) to gauge industry capabilities and interest, not a solicitation, and requested capability statements with information on company type and small-business status. Record 2 transitions to a formal, full and open procurement via an RFQ with a firm delivery deadline, no option periods, SAM registration requirement, and a deadline for quotations; it confirms the same core requirement and signals a shift from market research to a competitive contract.

This is a Sources Sought Notice only. This is not a request for proposal, but a survey to locate potential sources. This Sources Sought does not constitute an Invitation for Bids, Request for Proposals or a Request for Quotations, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue an order or otherwise pay for the information solicited, nor is it a guarantee of a forthcoming solicitation or contract. It is for market research purposes only. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. The purpose of this Sources Sought Notice is to gain knowledge of interest, capabilities, and qualifications of various members of industry, to include the Small Business Community: Small Business, Section 8(a), Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUB-Zone), Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB), and Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB). Small business, Section 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, WOSB, & EDWOSB businesses are highly encouraged to participate.
