Summary

AI-generated · Nov 05, 2025

A Sonosite ultrasound machine is needed for the Tampa VA IV Infusion Clinic at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital to provide on-site ultrasound capability, enabling Veterans to be assessed at the main hospital rather than being transferred for imaging. The clinic has relied on borrowing an ultrasound from the Emergency Department, and owning a dedicated device is intended to reduce scheduling conflicts and improve care, especially for patients with difficult venous access during IV insertions.

This is a name-brand only requirement; the vendor must supply a Sonosite ultrasound machine that meets the specified physical, functional, and performance characteristics essential to the Government’s needs.

STATEMENT OF NEED for SONOSITE ULTRASOUND MACHINE GENERAL: The James A. Haley Veterans Hospital (JAHVH) has a new requirement for the Sonosite ultrasound machine. BACKGROUND: The Tampa VA IV Infusion Clinic urgently needs its own Sonosite ultrasound machine. Previously, the clinic borrowed the unit from the Emergency Room Department as needed. This procurement would eliminate scheduling conflicts and improve care for our Veterans. PURPOSE: The VA IV Infusion Clinic requires the Sonosite ultrasound machine it is essential for assisting clinical staff with IV insertion, particularly in patients with difficult venous access. SCOPE: This is a name brand only requirement. The vendor shall provide Sonosite ultrasound machine that meets the physical, functional and performance of the listed salient characteristics in this section.
