48--VALVE,BUTTERFLY, IN REPAIR/MODIFICATION OF N0038325RD132
Summary
AI-generated · Aug 23, 2025Butterfly valve repair/modification for a flight-critical item requires repair, testing, and inspection of the asset to government terms; the contractor must provide all tooling and testing equipment (government will not supply manufacturing aids), meet specific material and coating standards (for example, replace yellow paint with white coating using the listed pretreatment and coating systems, and dispose of lead/chromates safely), and comply with referenced standards and training where applicable (e.g., IPC/EIAJ-STD-001C if MIL-STD-454 is cited; SAE-AS22759 wire must be used instead of MIL-W-81381). Turnaround time is 110 days from asset receipt with government final inspection/acceptance, and an induction window of 365 days from contract award; a throughput (monthly repair capacity) must be declared by the contractor.
A presolicitation notice indicates that source approval is required before award because the item is flight critical or data support is not adequate for full and open competition; only previously approved sources are being solicited, with NAVSUP WSS brochures detailing the approval process. If your source approval is under evaluation, you may still be considered if you submit the upgrade package, but award may proceed to fleet support if approvals cannot be completed in time; qualification must be met at award, and the government notes it may consider non–commercial-item procedures despite a market search.
