This work is expected to occur during the summer months. The points connected to the additional Schneider I/O modules (4 total) in Mechanical Equipment Room G009 that are located in two (2) of the older cabinet enclosures, have yet to be identified. 2) The existing network switch located on the 3rd Floor, Room 3177 will either be expanded or replaced as needed to integrate the Schneider-controlled equipment on this floor. Currently, this switch has one (1) available port. New CAT6 cabling will be installed in the ceiling space of the occupied 3rd Floor in order to connect the new Siemens controllers serving existing air handling units 2-AHU-X and 2-AHU-6, temperature zones, and hot water heat exchanger and pump set. 3) The existing network switch located on the 4th Floor, Room 4167 will remain asis. Currently, this switch is being used to replace rooftop equipment controls to existing air handling units 2-AHU-2 and 2-AHU-3, along with the dilution exhaust fans and miscellaneous points. 4) The existing network switch located on the 5th Floor, Room 5003 currently serves the rooftop chillers, air handling units, and occupied areas of the 4th and 5th Floors. The 5th Floor switch is intended to connect to the new Penthouse switch and to integrate the remaining JCI and Schneider-controlled equipment that are on the 5th Floor level (4th Floor roof included). New CAT6 cabling will be installed in the ceiling space of the occupied 5th Floor in order to connect the new Siemens controllers serving existing air handling unit 2-AHU-4-OR, temperature zones, and hot water heat exchanger and pump set. 5) A new 24-port network switch will be installed in the Penthouse and will carry the bulk of the equipment being integrated into the Siemens system. Each CAT6 cable to the switch will be dedicated to each equipment controller. The new 24-port switch will have a network drop down to the existing 5th Floor network switch. (i) Existing air handling unit 2-AHU-7 is currently under DDC control. The new Siemens controller shall replace the existing JCI controller in the same cabinet enclosure. (ii) Existing air handling unit 2-AHU-8 will require pneumatic device changeout for the 2-position outside air control damper, face-and-bypass steam preheat coil, and 3-way modulating cooling coil control valve. A new control cabinet enclosure will be installed for this unit. This will require extending device signal wiring. (iii) Existing air handling units 2-AHU-9 and 2-AHU-10 will require pneumatic device change-out for the 2-position outside air control damper, face-and-bypass steam preheat coil, 3-way modulating cooling coil control valve, and humidifier control valve. Devices associated with the humidifier will be new. They include a new discharge humidistat, discharge high-limit switch, and space humidistat. The existing 2-AHU-14 cabinet enclosure can be re-used, but 2-AHU-12 will need to be separated from the shared cabinet enclosure with 2-AHU-9. SCOPE OF WORK The following systems will be modified to suit the electrical demands of the project: Normal Electrical Distribution at 208/120-volts Emergency Electrical Distribution at 208/120-volts Lighting systems and controls B. The electrical design shall be in accordance with, but not limited to the following VA design standards: VA Electrical Design Manual for New Hospitals, Replacement Hospitals, Ambulatory Care, Clinical Additions, Energy Centers, Outpatient Clinics, Animal Research Facilities, and Laboratory Buildings. NFPA 70 National Electrical Code National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 101 Life Safety Code EXISTING CONDITIONS Power 1) Emergency life safety and critical power branch panels are located on every floor of the building. The majority of the panels have spare circuit breakers or spaces to add a new circuit breaker as required. DESIGN APPROACH Power and Lighting 1) The intent of the design shall be to install new BAS panels adjacent to the existing outdated panels. Generally it was impossible to trace the power source of the existing BAS panel, therefore new 120-volt emergency branch circuit shall be routed to the new BAS network controller panel power supplies. This is required by VA standards. 2) Additionally, new network switches shall be installed in various locations throughout the three buildings. Local emergency 120-volt emergency branch circuits shall be provided for network switches as shown on drawings. 3) Where necessary, existing lighting and other ceiling mounted electrical devices shall be taken down and reinstalled in the same location during the course of the construction. 4) The circuits for all mechanical equipment, which have been scheduled for demolition, shall be removed back to the source. Equipment Grounding and Wiring Devices 1) In general, 20-amp duplex receptacles will be located where required. All receptacles shall be hospital-grade, plug-tail type receptacles complying with NEC Art. 517.13(B). 2) All non-current carrying metallic parts of the electrical distribution system will be bonded to the grounding electrode system or building steel. 3) An insulated grounding conductor will be run with all power feeder and branch circuits to supplement the conduit ground. 4) All wiring shall be solid for wire #10 and smaller and stranded for wires larger than #10. 5) Nonflexible metallic conduit will be provided for all emergency circuits due to the need to provide redundant grounding and protection of the branch circuit.
